5. Tracey Williams - Perpetuity of small things

440mm in diameter. Unique screenprint and watercolour on Incisioni paper, in frame (100mm white semi-gloss).(2010)
Tracey's contribution to the Good Wreath!' exhibition is titled Perpetuity of small things'. This beautiful screenprint and watercolour work features Tracey's evocative use of simple motifs from everyday life, as well as romantic imagery that seems as though it has been cast from an earlier era.
Represented here are simple botanical specimens, such as Buttercup flowers and rosebuds, which might be seen in any spring-time cottage garden. Further symbols of the fecundity of everyday life can be seen in the depiction of simple silver cutlery and delicate insect wings. This selection of imagery has been arranged in a circle as a wreath of some of the small things' in life but some of the continual and beautiful as well.

The Project:
Parnell celebrates Christmas with 20 artists reinterpreting the wreath, with works on exhibit in 20 Parnell stores and galleries from November 19 - December 19. In the spirit of Christmas, most works are for sale by TradeMe auction during this period, with 20% of proceeds to be donated to the NZ Gynaecological Cancer Foundation.

20% will go to: The New Zealand Gynaecological Cancer Foundation's mission is to educate and inform all NZ women about the signs and symptoms of gynaecological cancers (the 4 main ones are: uterine, ovarian, cervical and vaginal/vulval cancer), to encourage early detection and to provide support for women following diagnosis and treatment.
