Intrigued to create a work that fused together two aesthetics, the classical Christmas Wreath with the innovative signature style of my ceramic studio Ceramics Can Fly. The challenge was to push my making outside its Jewellery form while maintaining its delicate and structured aesthetic. Research into the motif of the Wreath led me to create a design that both celebrates and converges the differing classical motifs of Christmas Wreaths.

In this wreath, greens symbolize strength, as evergreens last even throughout the harshest winters, while blue is a symbol of hope and waiting. The form remains circular, a symbol of the lifes eternal cycle and lifes persistence. Within the unbroken circle form the historically significant colours weave together at times thickening or emerging and thinning or disappearing. I have decided to include the visual clue of a bow as it softens the solid, constructed nature of a ceramic wreath.
