I was inspired by the work of the Impressionists for this painting, which I did based on a photograph I took while walking by the Manawatu River.

It features lively and colourful brushstrokes in a vibrant mixture of blues, yellows, pale green and earthy russet.

About the artist:

I work in acrylic and mixed media incorporating collage.

I won the 2003 Yellow Pages Arts Scholarship (phone book cover) for Manawatu.

Two of my paintings were selected for exhibition at Te Manawa (Palmerston North's regional art gallery) as part of the Manawatu Arts Review 2009.

I also won the oil\acrylic prize at the Manawatu Art Awards in 2001.

My work is in private collections in NZ, Australia, America and Canada.

I'm currently involved with the Palmerston North Life Drawing Society and I'm going to be tutoring classes in mixed media this winter.

I've had work included in art auctions and displayed in several art galleries (including Taylor-Jensen Fine Arts and Square Edge in Palmerston North), as well as cafes & restaurants.
