Stuart Reid Oil on Canvas *Horses Resting c. 1920

An original, early 20th century oil on canvas by well respected equine painter, Stuart Reid. Reid was born in Dunedin circa. 1880 and was a known painter in both Australia and New Zealand with a focus on paintings of racehorses in particular. A current example of his work titled 'Phar Lap with Jim Pike' is currently in the collection of the Melbourne Museum and was painted circa. 1931.

The following painting is a rather interesting depiction of two horses at rest at a small watering hole hence the title, 'Horses Resting.' It is signed to the bottom right corner by the artist and is very tastefully framed.
