We are very excited to present this iconic Nick Cave print by renowned Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn taken from his '1-2-3-4' retrospective. The story behind this image is fascinating. Corbijn initially obliged when Nick Cave demanded a studio shot - “it was too windy, it was too wet, my hair, etc.” Cave recalls but, later, “he managed to coax me outside into the dark English weather." Within a matter of minutes he had shot the stark and powerful photograph that became the cover of The Boatman’s Call." This premium quality art print has been produced on heavy weight art stock using lightfast pigment based inks resulting in a sharp, vivid image with a high degree of colour accuracy.

THE ARTIST

Anton Corbijn is best known for his black and white photographs of actors, musicians and artists, though he cannot be seen as a celebrity photographer. Rather as someone who captures personalities that intrigue him. Some of his photographs have become iconic images of modern pop culture. Besides his photographic oeuvre, Corbijn also designed stages, directed music videos and directs feature films these days. In 2007 he made his film debut with ‘Control’, about the life of Joy Division singer Ian Curtis.
