It can be difficult to find Number Knowledge reinforcement activities that students can work on independently.

This ‘Teaching Timesaver’ which will be emailed to you as a .pdf file, includes 10 sets of Loop Cards for students to work on their Number Pairs that make 10 or 20.

One set of 5 cards requires Making 'Tidy Tens' and the other set of 5 cards is Making 20.

(I have added a little visual prompt on the cards to remind them they are to 'Make 10' or 'Make 20'.)

Loop Cards are like dominoes and are great for students Independent Activity box as they are self correcting - the cards are ‘in the loop’ when all the cards are matched up.

This resource contains 10 sets of ‘colour coded’ Loop Cards with a corresponding Mat, so students have a visual prompt on how to place the cards.

All numbers are correctly formed for easy identification.

(Just print and trim up the cards and the resource is ready to go! and as you have the file, you can easily replace a card, if necessary)

Loop cards are great because they can be both an individual or Buddy activity. Students will happily work through the full set of cards as a personal challenge. Others like to ‘beat their buddy’ – the cards are dealt out - one person starts by putting down a card and then they each take turns to add a card (either end) . If one person cannot add a card, they miss a turn. The winner is the first person to use up all their cards.

(If the resources are used in an independent Activity centre, it works best if each set of colour coded cards and the matching A4 Board, are put together in separate mini-grip bags.)
