Display & Activities based on the Question Matrix!!!

This set of Question Starters will be another great ‘Timesaver’ for Teachers.

This 44 page resource, which will be emailed to you, as a .pdf file, is based on the Question Matrix and the cards can be used as a Class Activity or in small groups in a variety of learning situations.

The resource includes

• a ‘make and break’ activity of the key words

• 42 question cards based on the Question Matrix for display (There are two questions to an A4 sheet)

• Additional key questions to add to your display. e.g. KWL

PLUS

• two dice templates – one with What, Where, Which, Who, Why and How and the other with Is, Did, Can, Would, Will and Might for students to practise developing question starters e.g. Throw the dice and make a question.

• a variety of large A4 dialogue boxes, facing both left and right for the “Big Questions”.

As well as in Inquiry, they are great for Numeracy and Literacy.

(The Question Matrix was designed by Chuck Wiederhold - “Creative Learning and Higher Order Thinking”. It contains question starters asking what, where, when/which, who, why and how. Proceeding through the matrix, the questions become more complex and open-ended.)

The Question Matrix could be used:

• to help students create their own questions about a specific topic and to encourage in-depth thinking
• as question starters for teachers to elicit further information about student’s knowledge and understanding
• to formulate questions for a particular purpose e.g. organising a camp
