RAMPION
A picture book by Jnka Pucmer
from Grimm's Fairy Tales
This is a beautiful interpretation of the 1812 Grimm's brothers' folk tale, in which a woman has an overwhelming craving to eat rampions (like Brussels sprouts, also called rapunzel) around the time she becomes pregnant. She gives birth to "the most beautiful child under the sun". The story follows her life in which an enchantress locks her in a tower, and visits her daily and asks her to let down her very long hair, until a handsome prince comes along...
The illustrations are wonderful pastel art work.
