This is the 2016 edition of The Kopara, by Brian Pearson, the engaging local history of the Kopara district in the West Coast. You are bidding on a book that was rejected from commercial sale because of a slight cosmetic defect such as damage or misalignment to the cover, or incorrect page numbering.

This paperback edition has 399 pages with black and white and colour photographs and maps. 265 mm x 197 mm.

As a young teacher graduate, Brian Pearson and his family move to North Westland. He becomes the sole teacher in a small sawmilling settlement in the remote valley just west of the main divide known as the Kopara. Teaching a diverse group of children, he too finds himself the student as he learns to become part of the growing community. In his book, Brian also explores the historical struggle of the pioneer settlers in this region of Westland. In particular he examines their fight to be recognised by central government as a functioning community in order to gain basic amenities such as roads and power. Extensively researched, Brian shares the stories of many colourful characters and amusing, extraordinary anecdotes. Please click here to ask a question
