Description
Hardback very good condition for year, some tanning spots, with dust jacket sun faded spine book "Mairangi" by Margaret Jeffery.
First Edition published 1964 by Pegasus Press.
"Judith Wilmot, an orphaned child of ten, is sent from England to live with her Great Aunt Eulalie in New Zealand. But the house on Mairangi Street is no ordinary house; nor is Aunt Eulalie an ordinary person.
Judith reveals no curiosity about the scar on Aunt Eulalie's neck, nor is she particularly interested in her great aunt's bitter innuendoes concerning her estranged sister, Eudora. Even the shock of a display of sadism, throwing a live rat into a blazing incinerator is short lived; because Judith is under Aunt Eulalie's spell, begging her to play "Marble Halls' on the tall gilt harp with the broken strings, joining in the laughter when Aunt Eulalie discovers the mice have made a playground of her pink feather boa.
