Long famous for his high-tech building designs, Cesar Pelli, more than any other American architect, has taken the International Style developed by the Bauhaus and transformed it into a style expressive of this country's preoccupation with materials and technology. Although his work indicates a long-standing fascination with the reflective properties of glass as well as a frequent and recurring use of color, his buildings do not all come from the same aesthetic mold. Rather, Pelli's skillful handling of materials has given his body of work a diversity and complexity that critic John Pastier examines here in the first book to be published on Pelli's work...
