THE TOP END OF DOWN UNDER provides a visual insight into an area of Australia which has unique beauty and diversity, while at the same time is relatively unknown to many Australians. The great significance of Kakadu National Park will become apparent, as will the understanding of why it is a World Heritage area...
The photographs in this book are truly unique and outstanding. Peter Jarver's powerful yet sensitive images portray a region of Australia in a way never seen before - through the landscape and the skyscape.

Peter Jarver developed an interest in photography during an overseas trip in 1973 and first became intrigued by the thunderstorms of the Top End during the year following Darwin's devastation by Cyclone Tracy. The cloud and lightning photography in this book is the result of eight years of patience, frustration and frantic activity. The landscape in general and Kakadu National Park in particular has held his fascination for equally as long. He has a strong belief that the conservation of wild areas is of paramount importance for the future of our planet.
