In Harm's Way: A RNVR Officer at war 1940-44
by Geoffrey Hobday

Foreword by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh

Geoffrey Hobday, a New Zealander was one of a special breed.
This exciting and fast moving story starts in 1940. As captain of a motor launch based on the East Coast he experienced at first hand the grim and unrelenting struggle for control of the North Sea and the English Channel waged against German U-Boats.
Later he commanded a motor gunboat in the Mediterranean, taking part in many important operations.
A lively account of naval warfare that and will appeal to all who have a taste for adventure.

The Royal Navy's small ships, the motor torpedo boats, motor gunboats, steam gunboats and motor launches of Coastal Forces, fought seven hundred and eighty actions in European waters during the Second World War.

They were manned almost exclusively by civilian volunteers, many of them dashing individualists who in peacetime had been yachtsmen or motor boat enthusiasts.

Hardback, 1985, 224pages, very good condition, light sun fading in spine
