Angela D'Audney is our `first lady' of television. Broadcasts. The early 1960s beamed a young and beautiful Angela into the living rooms of those New Zealanders lucky enough to own their own television set. Her audience has grown from thousands to millions, and she has changed hairstyles, hemlines and headlines a hundred times since. But the enduring professionalism and charm that are her trademarks have never changed.
This is the story of Angela DAudney's life, but it is also the story of New Zealand's television industry. Hired, fired and re-hired on several famous occasions, Angela returned each time with renewed vigour. But even her resilience wavered when she was given the dreadful news that she had a brain tumour. Rather than dwell on `what might be' the indomitable Ms D'Audney was persuaded to write a book - in between visits to the oncology ward. Assisted by Nicky Pellegrino, deputy editor of New Zealand Womans Weekly, Angela D'Audney talks candidly and honestly about her life, the highs and lows, and her extraordinary reaction to a life-threatening illness.
