This is an auction for A VIEW FROM THE TOP: MY SEVEN YEARS AS PRIME MINISTER by Jim Bolger.

"James Brendan Bolger was the Prime Minister of New Zealand for seven tumultuous years, but for many he remains an enigma. The son of Irish-Catholic immigrant parents, he rose to lead the National Party to its greatest ever victory in 1990 and by 1997 was the second longest serving leader in the OECD. He was once, according to the polls, the most unpopular Prime Minister ever. Written off by the commentators (one said his end would be like shooting goldfish in a bowl), he went on to survive a succession of crises any one of which could have spelled his political demise. Most remarkable of all was the coalition negotiation of November 1996 when he cut an historic deal with his bitterest political enemy only to be ousted a year later by the colleagues he had promoted. This book is the story of those years, written with wit and candour by the man who lived them. In it he provides a thousand fascinating insights into what really happens in the Beehive, the political personalities of the day, and the international leaders he met. When he was forced from office in late 1997, Bolger left with a grace and dignity that deeply perplexed his critics, some of whom wondered aloud if they had ever known him at all. Written in the final days before he left to become New Zealands Ambassador in Washington DC, this book goes a long way towards answering the question 'Who was Jim Bolger?'"
