This book is a spectacular photo-essay of animals and birds photographed by Dr. Rod East over a lifetime. Rod wrote the text by hand while confined to bed with an invasive cancer. His late son, Jonathan, typed Rod’s text on the computer upstairs and helped Rod select the photos for the book from his extensive photo collection.

“African Wildlife” was compiled, and printing arranged in Wellington, by friends after Rod passed away.

Rod’s passion for wildlife and Jonathan’s love for his father are revealed in the production of this book.

Proceeds from the book auction will go towards buying smaller items of equipment for the new Hamilton Hydrotherapy Pool, at Waterworld, Te Rapa, which was opened in July, 2011 by Hamilton’s Mayor, Julie Hardaker.

“AFRICAN WILDLIFE” won a Highly Commended in the 2007 SPECTRUM PRINT BOOK DESIGN AWARDS. Rod
was awarded the prestigious Sir Peter Scott Memorial Award for his tireless, lifelong voluntary work for African wildlife conservation, by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, (IUCN) just a few weeks before he died.

The book has a Semi Soft Cover, 29.5cm X 21cm, 80 pages, 58 photos, and the majority full page.
