Leather bound hardcover, 187 pages.
In very good condition, author dedication inside cover, minor yellowing to edges, all pages clean

A nicely preserved 1933 edition of TC List book of his impressions of Britain in the early thirties.

"A compilation of 100-plus newspaper articles by Taranaki Daily News writer Thomas C. List, who attended the 1930 Imperial Press Conference in London. The book studies many aspects of British life to provide a picture of the then close relationship between that country and New Zealand."

"From the opening chapter "The Unchanging Briton," to the last, "Old Plymouth," this volume exudes an aroma of musty but revered castles and abbeys, rose gardens and hallowed literary shrines.
Several chapters are penetrating character studies of living men such as Stanley Baldwin, Lord Beaverbrook, and Dean Inge, who are carrying on England's parliamentary, journalistic and ecclesiastical traditions. Other sections reveal a friendly but detached appraisal of various British industries, their losses and their gains.
The author is a master of the art of telling much with the use of significant details." ~The Rotarian, Jan 1934
