Review by a Customer
This book was a real find for me. After spending weeks searching my locallibraries and Bristol bookshops for those women who had contributed to thesocial and political history of Bristol, this was the gem that topped themall.
Its easy to find a book about the history of Bristol - but read anyof them, and all you'll find is a catalogue of entries about I.K Brunel,Edward Colston, with an occassional obligatory nod for Hannah More andMary Carpenter.
This books digs out the real stories of women from Bristolfrom cotton workers of Barton Hill to singing soprano's from St.Annes.
There is a bibliography at the back - which could be better,(Hence theloss of a star) but is a useful starting point for further reading. And ifyou are interested in the history of women in Bristol.
