The New Zealand Experience: 100 Vignettes was first published in 1985 and now this second collection brings together a further 101 accounts of New Zealand life. These accounts are unique personal experiences recounted by students of a Human Development course who were asked to describe an event of significance in their lives. The stories are grouped together into six 'life stages' from. the Early Years to Late Adulthood. This volume differs significantly from the earlier collection in containing more painful, and sometimes even violent experiences. Perhaps they reflect the change which has undoubtedly occurred in the quality of life of many New Zealanders in recent times. They also show a greater willingness on the part of individuals to share painful incidents in their lives. Because of the personal nature of these experiences, some authors wished to remain anonymous; others are listed in the Introduction. -
