In August 1985, a fourteen-man New Zealand Alpine Club expedition (including two Australians) set out from Tibet for the west ridge of Everest ( Chomolungma), which had never been climbed. The attempt ended after teo life threatening avavlanches, the second of which destroyed camp three and buried two team members.
This book charts the expedition from their Christchurch departure to their final night in base camp eleven weeks later.
