Big Days in a Little Country: A Short History of New Zealand
by Cameron Watson
Big Days in a Little Country is a short overview of New Zealand’s history. The author Cameron started it a year ago after one of her teenage girls asked herself ‘what does nuclear free mean?’

As she attempted an answer, it dawned on her that a lot of the history she grew up with like Think Big, the 1981 Springbok Tour and the Rainbow Warrior bombing, was all ‘before their time’.

So she thought she would have a go at writing down some of these main events for them to read. Over time it grew from a pamphlet into a booklet, and then to a size where she thought she might as well put a cover on it and call it a book.

There are 25 chapters, three covering the early years and then one for each decade since 1800.
