This is an auction for LISTEN TO THE TEACHER: AN ORAL HISTORY OF WOMEN WHO TAUGHT IN NEW ZEALAND 1925–1945, edited by Anne Else for the Society for Research on Women in New Zealand.

"Women teachers have outnumbered men in the teaching profession for generations, yet their contribution to the education and development of young New Zealanders has largely gone unrecognised. Through the words of the thirty women interviewed, this book tells what it was like to be a woman teacher in New Zealand between the two World Wars; it provides an 'inside' view of the working lives of a group of women whose impressions, reflections and stories have been arranged thematically in chapters dealing with different aspects of teaching. Pen portraits of each of the thirty women interviewed are also included so that their identities are preserved and the contributions they made are no longer lost to history."
