In general,I did like the juxtaposition of what was happening in the US with similar developments in the UK and Europe and much of the material about the UK was, for me, new and fascinating. In particular the loopy shenanigans going on behind the curtains of the last Wilson administration and consequent rumblings of a potential right-wing coup. It gives a good overview of Nixon's disastrous final years and I think the benefit of having this discussed in parallel to other events around the world is that one can better see the global nature of political patterns, actions and thinking that was starting to take hold in the 1970s."

"FIVE STARS!! Stranger than fiction actually! You need to be of a certain age to appreciate this book. If you can't remember the 70's you won't believe this stuff. Involuntary candlelight dining in UK and National Guards opening fire on unarmed American students. There are also some aspects which were not known at the time which are illuminating and a bit worrying. For those who are entertained by conspiracy (theories and realities) this is a fun read."
