This book surveys the historical background of bonsai, describes the practicalities of their cultivation and provides highly informative notes on the large numbers of plants which can be successfully grown in this way. The author explians which plants make good bonsai speciments; how to build up a collection and carry out the necessary training; how to cope with pests and diseases, and look after the plants on a month-by-month basis. There are 16 portraits in colour of outstanding speciments from the author's won colelction as well as numerous black and white photographs and line drawings. A helpful glossary to terms is also included.
