BETRAYAL IN HIGH PLACES 1946-1950 is the compelling history of what really occurred in a defeated Japan following the end of World War II.

The events recounted in this book are taken from irrefutable chronicles of official War Crimes Documentation provided to historian-author James MacKay by the widow of the late Captain James Gowing Godwin who as a commissioned officer in the 2nd War Crimes Section of the Australian Army, investigated numerous crimes and atrocities of the Japanese Imperial Armed Forces at Tokyo during his three year period of service as an Allied War Crimes Investigator.

Fortunately for history and posterity Godwin had the foresight to bring back to New Zealand a considerable amount of classified War Crimes Files and much supporting documentation following his final departure from Japan in 1950. This incredible material lay hidden in a remote New Zealand private home for almost forty-five years before finally, it was rediscovered just prior to Godwin's death.

What is chronicled in this book makes grim reading. Readers are invited to draw their own conclusions from the wealth of sworn testimony and indisputable documentation attested and extracted from the Tokyo War Crimes Files. Nothing in this book is hypothetical. Perversions of justice, collusion and political corruption are there- fore well illustrated, including the names of the arch-conspirators. The chronicles reek of betrayal in high places. This astounding book may well compel the re-writing of Japan's post-war history. Please click here to ask a question
