Fred Buller & Hugh Falkus
Hardcover
H U G E - B O O K - 525 pages
ALMOST NEW
Extremely clean with dust-jacket from a smoke-free home.
The authors are as familiar with the history of fishing tackle. Every item is derived from their own first-hand angling experience. Throughout the book there are frequent quotations from angling literature, ancient and modern,
Part 1 covers the fish, and part 2 the rigs, tackles and methods that can be used for their capture.
A thorough examination of all aspects of fishing for bream, carp, trout, salmon, grayling, roach, rudd, shad, stickleback, sturgeon, zander, and nearly every other critter with fins plus the tackle and techniques to catch them.
The object of the book was simple: it was to compile a few tested fishing rigs and methods, together with some notes on the fish themselves.
Bear in mind that this was written back in the days before word processors, so the whole job had to be done laboriously by hand, one thing which is generally forgotten about the book being that some of the chapters were originally printed in Creel magazine.
Hugh Falkus was first a Spitfire pilot in the Second World War. Shot down over France and imprisoned for four years, he was a constant menace to his jailers and in one camp famously captured and casseroled the Kommandant's favourite cat.
