Description
The new Encyclopedia of HANDGUNS
Christopher Chant Large book, 200 pages Published Multimedia UK 1987 Book is in good condition, no donkey ears, or inscriptions. The cover front and rear in and out shows some wear. The pages are clean and straight.
The new Encyclopedia of HANDGUNS explores the development of the hand weapon, via the invention of the percussion cap in the 1830s and the development of smokeless nitrocellulose propellants in the 1870s, to the increasingly complex and diverse family of weapons manufactured from about 1900. These guns range from single shot personal defense pistols to the modern military personal weapons capable of high rate of fire with lightweight but highly lethal ammunition. Between these two extremes are sporting guns, revolver and automatic pistols, bolt action rifles, automatic rifles, assault rifles, sub machineguns, light machineguns, shotguns and riot control weapons. These have all played a major part in two world wars- and have contributed greatly to the evolution of modern society.
