The Jaguar XK
By Chris Harvey

The wartime dream of four Coventry men, who planned their ideal car engine during midnight fire-watching sessions, was realised in 1948 when the first of the Jaguar XKs, the XK120, was unveiled.

The sports car they produced was to become a classic - and thirty years on still offers fantastic value for money. The XKs blazed the export trail with an engine years ahead of its time. At Le Mans, the greatest test of racing endurance, Jaguar carried off five victories, including a hat-trick with their D type.

The story of the thirteen-year reign of the XKs is comprehensively and entertainingly told by Chris Harvey. He covers the whole production history, road test reports, worldwide racing, running your XK, its restoration, how to go about buying one; plus accounts and amusing anecdotes from XK owners all over the globe.

Hundreds of pictures, many in full-colour, and many not published before, have been researched by Paul Skilleter.
