Hardcover with dust jacket; 232pp

Illustrated with 109 B/W drawings by the author; foreword by Sir Andrew Cohen, ex Governor of Uganda

Summarised from dust jacket:
Mr Cott, the distinguished zoologist, is an extremely accomplished artist who has travelled extensively throughout Uganda. His great affection for the land and its people is apparent from his drawings. Includes drawings from most areas, from Karamoja in the North-east to Kigezi in the south-west. Subjects embrace a wide field: landscape and botanical studies, drawings of animals in their natural setting or as close-up studies, sketches and portraits of people belonging to different tribes, and general impressions of native life. The foreword of this book reads: 'To those who know and love Uganda and its people, this book of 109 pen drawings will bring great joy. More than words can, or even photographs, these impressions have the feel and flavour of the country'. The 109 illustrations are superb and are opposite each text page.

Second-hand book in overall VG condition for its age. Dust jacket is faded on spine and top and left front near edges. Small tears at top and bottom of spine of dust jacket; DJ foxed on reverse. Blue cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine and embossed 'gazelle' on front. Stitching solid. Browning/discoloration of end papers. Ink stamps from Teachers College Ardmore on endpapers, dust jacket back flap and page 231. No other signs of being 'Ex Library'. A little foxing on a few pages - otherwise clean internally.
