A Tale of the Alamo
By Augusta J. Evans Wilson
Author of "Beulah," "St. Elmo," "Macaria," "Vashti," etc
Published by George Routledge and Sons, Limited, London, 1892
As far as I can tell, this is a first edition.
There is no evidence of previous edition from the information within the book.
Free shipping in NZ
The book is dedicated to, 'The Texan Patriots, who triumphantly unfurled and waved aloft the "Banner of the Lone Star!" Who wrenched asunder the iron bands of despotic Mexico! And wreathed the brow of the "Queen State" with the glorious chaplet of "civil and relgious liberty!" This work is respectfully dedicated by the author.'
Condition: The book is in very good to excellent condition throughout. Three early pages have some heavy creasing which would likely flatten out with care. The binding is sound. No torn, missing, defaced or damaged pages.
There is interesting advertising in front and back of the book -see photo.
The cover is worthy of special mention as it is beautifully decorated in coloured ink in the fashion of some books of the time. See the photo.
All in all a delightful book that has the added interest of being 117 years old!
