Description

Three Schools: A Centennial History.

Rickard, L. S.

'The story of Hereworth is the story of two other schools as well: Heretaunga, founded in Hastings in 1882, and Hurworth, founded in Wanganui in 1901. The two merged in 1927 to form Hereworth. The history is not a mere chronology of the events and dates of the past century, but endeavours, as a history should, to explore the personalities behind the schools, in particular the three remarkable men who were the founding headmasters - William Rainbow of Heretaunga, W. E. Atkins of Hurworth and H. E. Sturge of Hereworth.
