From the preface: This little book was written to provide something for the Centennial Reunion of the Foote Family
Account of the Foote family's voyage to New Zealand on the Clara in 1865.
The brigantine 'Clara' was purchased by William Foote and Robert Peace in June 1864 with the intention of taking their families from Newfoundland to New Zealand. The journey, which began on 24 December, was long and eventful. In her journal, Robert's wife, Margaret Peace, described shipboard life and problems for the 37 passengers. The journal was used in Finlay Foote's 'Foot it featly' (1965), which records the same voyage from the point of view of William Foote's family.
Second-hand booklet in VG/Good condition. Paper spine is torn in places. Textured card cover is spotted/lightly browned. Pages lightly browned towards edges. Couple of small stain spots. Otherwise clean internally
