A Very Good Copy.
'Myrtle and Sopia is the story of two fine women with very different backgrounds, and is set in a period from 1876-1955. Myrtle was brought up in Auckland in a large family of boys, and knew practically nothing of life in the country. Sophia, on the early death of her mother, was adopted by her godparents, who also had a family of boys and lived in Kaitaia in the Far North. From an early age, Sophia knew how to run a large household, and later her uncle's Post Office. During the time she was a young woman, there were plenty of social occasions- dances, riding parties, eeling parties, fishing expeditions, camping at the seaside and goind to concert's, usually organised with local talent. As the story progresses, Myrtle meets Sopia's handsome brother, and a whirlwind courtship takes place. Within two weeks the couple are engaged, and within three months they are married. How the lives of these two women were woven together is told by the author, who knew them both intimately. The story of Myrtle and Sophia is told by each in the first person in alternate chapters'
