New Zealand Plants and Their Story
By: L. Cockayne

Hardback published NZ 1967 4th edition
269 pages Size 25 cm x 16 cm

The origins of this book are found in a series of newspaper articles written by the author in 1907. The first edition of the book (1910) was much enlarged and amplified, including a chapter on introduced plants. This second edition (1919) was described as "virtually a new book", rearranged and with much additional material. Cockayne died in 1934 and this fourth edition of 1967, edited by E J Godley, included a new index, up-dated botanical names, some new illustrations and footnotes. Otherwise there was little amendment to the text.
