A Fine Copy. Introduction- 'Pat White yakes us on Jack Dunn's journey to war. Jack, like other members of the Wellington Infantry Battalion, found himself on Gallipoli fighting in circumstances that he or jis comrades never imagined when they left these shores. The Gallipoli experience broke most men and it broke Jack. However he determined to stay with his mates, fell asleep at his post and was sentenced to be shot. Commonsense intervened and spared him but fate determined that three days later he would fight and die with his mates on Chunuk Blair. He is still, one of the unknown dead whose death etched itself on NZs soul. His journey marked us as a people and still signposts the road we take today' Christopher Pugsley. Printed on the occasion of an exhibition of painting and sculpture by the author at Aratoi, Wairarapa Museum of Art and History April 25, 2005. Wonderful book. SCARCE NZ Gallipoli history.
