RED ROWANS
by Isabel Cameron

Published by London: THE R.T.S. Office Bouerie Stret, E.C.4
First published in 1936 (doesn't say when this copy was printed)

Robert Blake, a tall young Englishman found Elspet MacLeod one golden September day, a knot of rowan berries at her waist, shelling peas in her Aunt Eppie's cottage garden.
Elspet could sing like an angel, and possessed unexpected gifts also, more widely known outside the Glen than within its borders.
The rowan berries weave their spell in and out of the story, and through it all runs the music of the burns and the wild lilt of the Gaelic speech, and the brooding enchantment of the dark lovely Highlands, fit setting for a story nearly tragedy, but alight with humour and courage and happy endings.

Dust jacket is partly torn away and has been covered with duraseal. The first inside page has been torn out.
The colour in the photo is not as bright as the original, probably because of the duraseal covering.
Some brown spotting on page ends but pages themselves are fine.
One black and white illustration.
But, a great story.
