It is about a one handed young man who is an orphan and who gets a job as a timber guard in Limberlost near Wabash, Indiana. During the story he falls in love with a young girl, the beautiful "Swamp Angel," and his mysterious, noble past is revealed. The book was made into a film in 1935 and 1960
