Description
Published by Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans, 1846
Dull dark cloth decorated in blind on front, spine & rear, gilt lettering on spine., inscription on flyleaf, edges dusty, small 8vo,(180x125x20mm), 216pp + 32pp catalogue.
A tale for Children on the practical use of a portion of the Church Catechism by the author of ‘Amy Herbert’ etc. The author apologizes in the preface for the seriousness of the contents, though the Catachism is used in the context of children’s experiences in daily life.
Not a very attractive looking book (no pictures), but interesting as an example of children’s teachings in the mid 1800s.
My large collection of early children’s books and other related items needs thinning out. Defects are described, but it is possible that some minor faults are overlooked. I will be happy to combine purchases to save on postage. Please ask if more information is wanted.
