A nice painting signed J Hopkirk. I have seen this artists work before, but do not have details on him. But anyone who knows the artist will know about him/her A pleasant piece of presumably New Zealand country scene, most likely the Westcoast of the South Island looking at the scenery. It is titled 'Evenings Golden Glory' Helpful watcher says "Clearwater River at Fox Glacier cactuspete" - thanks helpful watcher, A nice oil done on board. Outside frame measures approx 765mm x 650mm. What you can actually see of the painting measures approx 690mm x 570mm. The frame has scrapes and bangs etc etc, and the top part of the frame can come off easily, so either repair and repaint etc or replace. If the top comes off, and you simply put it back into place it would be OK for just hanging there on the wall, but the frame is tatty so would look better if replaced or repaired properly. The painting looks good I think. (any faults it may have would be minor and all quite liveable - minor marks etc, but basically fine & quite liveable. It is not glassed.
