Description
This is an auction for PROSPERO'S ISLAND: A HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND, by Judith Bassett.
"A near-centenary tribute, with a healthy measure of good yarns – the wartime experiments investigating ways of causing tidal waves by explosives; initiations, which included first-year students running a gauntlet through a ditch, while older students rubbed axle grease or cement in their hair; and the school’s contribution to the America’s Cup, via its Yacht Research Unit."
