The rather quirky hand coloured copperplate engraving after Grasset de St.Sauveur. Paris 1806. Titled Homme & femme de la Nouvelle Zelande . Where as Grasset St.Sauveur's depiction of Maori was more Nth American by characteristics .However in this plate the images are certainly more Pakeha than Maori. This is an extremely rare plate and is highly valued more for it's depiction than it's historic accuracy.A collectors must have piece. Comes with text . 225 x 175 mm
