Description

Key Dimensions D = 16 mm d1 = 3.5 mm d2 = 6.5 mm h = 5 mm

Pull force = 5 kg under ideal conditions. The actual pull force depends on the surface that is being clamped onto (material type, thickness, flatness, friction levels, etc), its quality (e.g. rust free), its size (thickness plus total surface area), etc.

The basic principle of the pot magnet is to direct and concentrate the flux from both magnetic poles to one active face. This is usually achieved with steel pole pieces or a steel-backing cup. This means that the magnetic strength is strong on one side. The side that gets screwed to an object has a low strength.

This flat mounting magnet with a tapered countersunk hole to recess a screw head. One can be attached to an object that needs to be hung from a metal surface, or it can be screwed to a wall, ceiling or fixture to hold metallic objects in place. Incredibly handy!

Key Features

  • No stray flux as magnetism is retained in a closed circuit
  • The pot screens the magnet material from de-magnetising effects
  • Pot is machinable
  • Can be inserted into, fitted to, steel without adverse effect
  • Magnet proper is most efficient magnet shape (plain cylinder magnetised lengthways)
  • Distance of magnetic attraction lower than that of other magnets but grip in intimate contact is vastly superior to magnets of similar material and weight but different design.

Rare Earth Neodymium (NdFeB) Pot Magnets are best for small sized magnetic products with maximum pull strength (ideally when in direct contact with ferromagnetic e.g. mild steel surfaces). Pot magnets, also known as holding magnets, are cupped in steel which concentrates the magnetic field. They can provide approximately 10 times the strength of individual magnets, making them useful in many industrial applications in the construction, engineering, automotive, electronic and agricultural industries. Usually, Pot Magnets are used for mounting, lifting, holding and transferring objects in various work environments.
