We purchased this system new from i-strip 3 years ago for just over $1,000.

Here's some info from their website if aren't familiar with the product:

"The Speedheater 1100 uses infrared heat to remove most kinds of paint and varnish. Infrared heat is a low temperature deep heat that penetrates the wood, and draws the moisture and resins in the wood to the surface. This breaks the bond between the wood and the bottom layer of paint or varnish and enables the removal of multiple layers at a time. Unlike other paint removal methods (heat guns, chemical paint strippers etc) infrared heat does not damage to the wood surface and makes clean-up much easier.

After stripping, the surface can be painted immediately.

[Because of its] low operating temperature the Speedheater 1100 is safe to use on lead paint as no lead gases are released at this low temperature, unlike a heat gun."

See the website for more info (don't put in .com as its the other sort of stripping!). The product is also showcased on Resene's website ('what's new') page.

We used it to strip about half our villa (the other half didn't need stripping). It worked really well and is still in perfect working order (tools may need sharpening but sharpener is included).

I think our package is what is called the 'classic system' on the i-strip website. It includes:

Speedheater 1100, 2 scrapers (weatherboard scraper and profiled paint scraper), blade sharpener, classic arm. dvd.

Pick up is from Devonport or we could freight at purchaser's expense.
