The Swedish AGMA Smart Splitter does the work of an axe and axe-style splitter. Like an axe, it's manually operated, with a 3.5kg striking weight delivering up to 14 tonnes of impact. The splitting-wedge is positioned on the block of wood being split, holding it in position, so no more trying to balance wood on the chopping block or holding it upright in one hand as you wield an axe in the other. When several strikes are required to split a block of wood, the Smart Splitter delivers every strike in precisely the same spot. It's a skill most of us never master with a regular axe/splitter and with a thinner "splitting edge" as part of the splitter head you can safely split kindling right down to toothpick size.
