These MUST go. Make us an offer!
It works by giving forestry contractors a remote-release option that allows the operator to be safely separated from the most hazardous part of the recovery process.
With the simple press of a button, the choker releases the strop as soon as the log has been dragged to its required position. This removes a man from a dangerous situation among unstable timber, and leaves the choker ready for the next haul.
Fortronics Electronic Chokers are radio-controlled devices. A UHF radio frequency digitally coded signal is used to command a set of chokers. Each choker is identified by a group code number and a choker ID number.
Safety improvements: The system provides dramatic safety benefits in one of the most dangerous areas of forestry: stem/log recovery activities. Stems and logs can be selectively or group released by the hauler operator. That removes the need for skid workers to be near machinery and working ropes.
Better utilisation of machinery and manpower: Automatic stem/log release on the landing site allows for stockpiling. This enables log-shifting machinery to perform other tasks in your operation. Again this can be achieved without unnecessarily exposing your crew to the danger of shifting logs.
Profitability improvements: The benefits are significant. Just check the mathematics: A less than 10-second turnaround at the landing site equates to more cycles per day. The gain in landed stems/logs per day is typically between 12 per cent and 45 percent. Add in the other tasks performed by the pole man who is no longer needed for releasing the choker, and the labour savings can be as much as one salary.
Have only had six months use. One has slight rope burn and chip on housing as shown in photos.
Comes with box of batteries and one spare servo motor. Still in excellent working condition.
A bargain as purchased for around $10,500+gst.
Feel free to ask questions.
