++The reasons we sell hens++


Commercial Producers get rid of their hens at the end of their first commercial lay around 15-16 months. The Brown Shaver and the Hy-line ( another commercial layer in NZ ) lay in their first year approx 300 eggs. In the second season this drops off by 15% which means they will lay 260 eggs in the second season. From a commercial perspective this is unacceptable.


By buying from us you are supporting the movement for battery hens to become free range birds with free range eggs. Also Free Range Hens that have finished their first season are also disposed of. They still have years of laying left in them no matter what many people say.
( NB These girls though are free range and always have been.)
