PRODUCT DETAILS

One magnet, 40mm diameter, 10mm thick, with 4.3 mm countersunk hole for attachment. Strength Rating: N45. Many magnets sold in NZ are N35 grade or lower, and are significantly weaker. One trader is even dishonestly advertised a weaker grade as N45.

The push or pull between two of these, or to 4 mm or more thickness of smooth, flat steel is about 31 kg. Between two steel plates, in ideal conditions, the pull is around 63 kg! If stacked in pairs, acting like 20 mm thick, the pull to each other or 4.3 mm steel, is around 52 kg! If stacked in threes, to each other or 6 mm plate, is around 69 kg. Beware... The more pull, the more danger!

But if this seems too strong, consider our D30x8 mm magnets, or glue 1 or 2 mm thickness of a non-magnetic material to the flat, pole surface.

Excellent for securely attaching all manner of fixtures to plate steel, or holding a heavy door or gate open or closed. (For outdoor use, seal against weather.)

This size, and our 50x25x12 mm block magnets are suitable for making "sweeper" magnets,for removing steel contamination. Attach a series of them, all with the same pole attached to one side of a flat, steel bar, fairly close together, and put the assembly inside a non-magnetic housing, say plastic down-pipe or stainless steel channelling.
