Very interesting devices - could be used in many ways either complete or split up as a collection of hydraulic components.

The drive consists of an AC motor driving a variable displacement swashplate hydraulic pump. On the output end is a fixed displacement hydraulic motor.

The delivery of the pump (and therefore the output speed) can be varied from zero to maximum fwd/reverse by operating a lever on top of the swashplate pump.... or by electrically/electronically driving a built in In hydraulic servo system mounted on the side which can also position the swashplate and, therefore, control the speed on the output. (The servo system used a small hydraulic power unit which is also available separately).

I haven’t hooked one up yet... may need a little reservoir and maybe a li’l radiator to cool oil if in continuous use.

Have several available.

One application is to use them in a similar way to their original purpose... i.e. as servo drives for a large x-y table or pitch/yaw director for some device.

Another possibility would be to make a variable ratio drive... e.g. to run an AC generator at fixed rpm for 50Hz.... from a varying speed of a main engine on a boat. (i.e. remove the electric motor and drive the swashplate pump from the engine).

The variable ratio drive could also be used as a “transmission” .... the hydraulic motor could probably be removed and positioned away from the main unit - connected by hoses.

One more possibility is to simply remove the fixed displacement motor and just use the variable delivery swashplate pump.

Alternatively, use for technical education or just have some fun experimenting with these rather fascinating devices (which was the original plan!).

Auction is for one unit. Successful bidder may take one at bid price, a second at bid price -20% and a third (or more) at bid price -25%. Can still do the discount if you buy one to check it out and then come back for others. (At least a second unit is probably a good idea for spare parts or experimenting).
