Non-apple equivalent devices cost about the same but are difficult to setup. It took me about 5 minutes to setup, connect to internet & connect our home computers. Other devices from brands like Belkin & D-Link can take hours & often need a consultant to install for you. AirPort Utility makes setting up REALLY easy, even for complex networks.

Sturdy & well built; Apple builds products to last & provides great support. Apple has stores in most major cities. Other brand's products are cheap & likely break after 6 months with no support.
