I think it is wool, might be cotton. The piece pictured shows how it looks knitted up. I started something ages ago, and gave up on it for some reason.
It would be equivalent to 4 ply - the piece was knitted on Size 10 needles, and would be equivalent to about another ball.
As is, you can have the lot for a very good price.
